Top Myths About Web Hosting Debunked
The web hosting industry has operated for more than three decades now and because it is one of those things that have survived the test of time, it is subject to a lot of false notions and myths that people still believe in to this day.
Finding the right web hosting provider, for example, is typically believed to be one of the more expensive ones in the market, which isn’t actually the case.
Today, I am going to talk about some of the top myths about web hosting and I am going to debunk each one of them.
Web Hosting is Expensive
Just to be clear, there are plenty of different hosting plans out there. There are even free web hosting services out there, but I highly recommend that you do not indulge in them simply because the cons really outweigh the pros.
Anyway, people believe that those paid hosting solutions are expensive, but that is actually not the case in this day and age.
As I’ve mentioned in the beginning of the article, the industry has been around for a couple of decades now which means that there are a lot of companies nowadays that are vying for your attention.
Because of the fierce competition, companies have dropped their prices considerably in order to entice people to sign up to their company.
Web Hosting is Inflexible
That is not true. If anything, web hosting providers make it a point to have their services scale up or down depending on the needs of the customer.
There is No Financial Return in Web Hosting
Again, this is not true at all. If you launch your e-commerce website, for example, hosting providers will make it a point to have that up and running at all times.
They understand that when a website is inaccessible that you could potentially lose a lot of money in the process.
Furthermore, companies are always improving their services and infrastructure to provide you with the best possible experience that money can offer.
Web Hosting is Only for Newbies
There are some people that believe that web hosting solutions are only reserved for people that do not want to invest their time and money in creating their own web hosting solution.
Unless you own a large company like Facebook or Google, maintaining your own servers to have your website hosted using your own means is quite costly and impractical.
Instead, you can rely on VPS hosting to have your website hosted online without having to pay a significant amount of money.
Web Hosting is Getting a Domain
This myth probably stems from the notion that web hosting providers also give a domain as part of their service, but that is not the case.
A domain registry is different from web hosting as the former is concerned about registering your own online domain while the latter is concerned about making your website be accessible online.
If your hosting provider doesn’t give you a domain, you need to register your website to a domain first.
